Found on Foot...this photo speaks directly to our feelings about SAFETY. This boy is probably about 10 years old & his daddy is trailing slowly behind, with hazard lights, while he’s out for a run. It broke my heart a little bit to see this. Even on our early morning residential streets, a family didn’t feel safe letting their son go out, on foot, alone (& without a safety vest). This image speaks VOLUMES about how Nashvillians perceive our state of safety while out walking. And, it’s not good. We really can do better. Nashville really does needs sidewalks.
This is a direct appeal to build sidewalks. If you are planning on remodeling or redevelopment of your home, PLEASE build your piece of sidewalk. You’re most certainly planning a driveway. The yard will be a mess, equipment already there. It amounts to an incredibly generous gift you can give to your neighborhood & the children of Nashville.
