Nashville is significantly behind in our pedestrian infrastructure (AKA sidewalks). 37% of Nashville streets have sidewalks compared to 50% in Austin, 71% in Seattle and 92% in Minneapolis.
At the rate of current sidewalk production, we face a Sidewalk Network completion many years in the future with an estimated cost of $550 million.
The children of Nashville today will not see our Network completed and will not grow up walking or biking to their friend's houses.
The Sidewalk Foundation was created to open the conversation to include a private-public funding source to get the job done in a timely way.
